SUGAR SYRUP BUCKETS ARE ON!

made the first buckets of sugar syrup with NOSEMA TREATMENT.  40's today - they're already out at 9:30 am.  the sides are open and the canvas is 1/4 up on the beehouse.  one hive has nosema...bad.  i'm glad to be able to get them MEDICATED EARLY!!!!  7 of 8 still going.....

You made syrup already? How are you offering it? Are the bees taking it? I fed my bees yesterday with pollen (substitute) patties along with loose granulated cane sugar and bee pollen granules. Figured it's still too cold for syrup. They appear to be doing well although they may have Nosema as well. I had treated them in fall as preventive measure, but the hives are pretty splattered on the outsides.

i had no other option but to get buckets on them - we were leaving for a two week VACA. i'll find out in a couple of days here if they were taking it. I CAN ONLY ASSUME they were - all the clusters were at the top feeding on "honey infusions", so i'm HOPING. due to the sugar content...the water is LESS LIKELY to freeze....

I'm looking forward to your feedback on how it went. I read that bees won't take the syrup when the syrup temperature is less than 50 degrees so I'm interested if they do take it.

Thanks.
